Redistributing music through Independent

Below are the steps to transfer your catalog from another distributor to Streamz.

Step 1

Collect your releases’ UPCs and ISRCs from your old distributor.

Step 2

Once collected, you can deliver your past releases through us just like you would a new release: in the portal, click “Assets” on the left, make sure you’re in the “Albums” tab, click “Actions” on the right, and click “Create new release.”

When filling out your release’s information, you’ll notice that the first tab “Main Info” asks if the asset you’re creating was “Previously released?” Here, you should select “Yes,” enter the previous release date, and enter the release’s UPC as collected from your previous distributor.

When you advance to the “Tracks” tab, you’ll notice that we ask you “Do you already have an ISRC code?” Here, you should select “Yes” and enter the track’s ISRC as collected from your previous distributor.

Step 3

Be sure to let us know of any relevant contributor splits on master revenues at catalogsplits.independent.co. If you do so, we'll pay your splits out automatically.

Step 4

Allow 5-10 business days for your releases to go live on DSPs (this time varies per DSP and per the queue length at each DSP).

Step 5

Once your releases are live, confirm that your streaming numbers, artist information, titling, profile mapping, etc. appear as they should.

In this short period of time, duplicate entries of your music will appear on your profiles. This step is essential to ensure that streaming numbers are retained in redistribution.

If you find errors in any releases you distribute through us, please email operations@independent.co and we will resolve this for you swiftly.

Step 6

If the new releases look good, you can issue takedowns with your previous distributor, and duplicates will typically disappear from your page in 48 hours.

We’re here to help! If you’re stuck at any point or have further questions, you can email operations@independent.co and we’ll get to work along with you.
